WHAT IS SCOUTING

In a nutshell: A game for scouts, under the leadership of scouts with the wise council of an adult scout leader who still has the enthusiasm of youth in him. A purposeful game, but a game just the same. A game that develops Character by practice, that trains for Citizenship – through experience in the great outdoors.

Troop 9625 strives to be a Scout Led troop, as described above.

MEETINGS

Troop meetings are every Monday night, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, in Fellowship Hall of Peace United Methodist Church , 5050 Hodgson Road, Shoreview, MN. On occasion, meetings are held off-site and notice of these are given in advance.

SCOUT OATH

On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.

SCOUT LAW

A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

SCOUT MISSION

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.

PATROL METHOD

The Patrol is the basic fundamental building block of the Boy Scout Troop. Our scouts are organized into patrols which function as independent units within the troop. Each patrol is comprised of 8-10 scouts and they vote every three months for their leader. Patrol leaders represent their patrol at the Patrol Leaders Council.

The Troop as a whole selects a Senior Patrol Leader who is the head of the troop and leads the Patrol Leaders Council.

Each Patrol Leader has an Adult mentor to help them to understand and successfully execute their responsibilities.

SCOUT LEADERSHIP

It is the PLC's (Patrol Leaders Council) policy to have a Senior Patrol Leader elected by the scouts twice each year.

Once elected Senior Patrol Leaders will select, and subject to approval by the Scoutmaster, an Assistant Senior Patrol leader and all of the Assigned Leadership positions. Each of these positions have a three month duration.
